1. What were the business challenges and demands of the project?
I believe that this project was one of the biggest challenges we have faced in our entire history.
As it was the tallest skyscraper in Brazil at the time, the framing solutions had to be developed exclusively to meet each particularity and the high structural, safety, and performance requirements of this project.
Reconciling the unique design “by Pininfarina” and the technical needs of such a unique building required many studies. Our team’s creativity and technicality were tested to find the best solution for the project.
Another challenging aspect of this project has always been the logistical difficulty of transporting and installing the curtain wall panels, considering the wind action that has always been high and constant in that region, the reduced space for maneuvering these panels inside the building and, above all, the height of the towers. These conditions required essential measures to ensure speed, quality, and safety during the facade installation.
Furthermore, we had to adopt an exclusive glass edge protection system. With this measure, despite the considerable number of pieces used in the project, there was practically no glass breakage during the transport and installation of the facade, a remarkable fact for a project of this magnitude.
This solution generated significant savings for the construction company, considering that in addition to the loss of the broken glass itself, its replacement would also involve the mobilization of special equipment and specialized labor to carry out this operation in a building as tall as this one.
2. How did GlassecViracon’s double laminated insulating glass meet the acoustic needs with a helipad at the top of the towers?
The facade near the helipad and in the nightclub of this project required special care in acoustics. The glass from GlassecViracon was significant in providing the comfort needed for these environments.
In addition to the acoustic performance requirement, the product meets the highest safety and resistance requirements demanded by the standards and the Fire Department of the State of Santa Catarina. Due to the height of the project, all insulated glass components are laminated-type safety, preventing the risk of any part or fragment falling in accidental breakage.
3. What are the sustainable features of the project?
In addition to offering a unique level of comfort for this project, double laminated insulating glass with solar control allows savings in the purchase of air conditioning equipment and the use of electricity by residents. That’s why we can say that high-performance glass helps considerably in sustainability.
4. What were the fundamental technical aspects for choosing GlassecViracon glass?
The owners of this project already knew, since its conception, that it would be a true milestone for engineering and the Brazilian real estate market. Therefore, they involved a large team of renowned designers and national and international designers in achieving the best result for your business.
In this context, it was defined as a priority objective that the enterprise should be unique and incomparable with what was available in the market. In addition to the stunning and exclusive view, the apartments should reflect the grandeur of this work and offer the best in comfort, safety, and functionality.
GlassecViracon’s customized glass contributed significantly to achieving this goal. In addition to the aesthetic appearance, in the “champagne” color desired by the Pininfarina design studio, the glass will provide energy savings and meet developers’ exceptional comfort level.
For apartment owners, the control of the air conditioning and climate control system will be more precise and efficient, and the use of insulated glass will keep the entire environment always comfortable, even the region close to the curtain facade, which often suffers from radiation heat when using only laminated glass.
As a result, this project certainly opens a new level of high-performance facades and glass applied in residential developments.
